So it stands to reason that when David Reid Homes opened show homes in two fast-growing areas, they sought out the best materials and products.
Queenstown manager Alistair Smith says Smeg appliances provide a sleek visual appeal that fits seamlessly into the kitchen's clean lines and smooth surfaces.
"The large kitchen is part of an expansive living area, so it was important that it have a clean, uncluttered appearance," he says.
"Because Smeg offers such a full range, we're able to outfit the entire space with appliances that visually and practically complement each other."
The Smeg P170 Piano Series oven has ten cooking functions, including turbo, defrost and wide grill. Together with the Smeg SA37X 34 litre microwave, it offers a range of cooking options from the gourmet to the everyday.
Safety features such as the oven's safe-to-touch doors and the microwave's child-safe lock make it especially suitable for family living.
Positioned between the oven and microwave, the Smeg P64 60cm Piano Series gas hob with four burners is constructed from a single sheet of high-quality stainless steel. This continuous surface makes it easy to clean and maintain.
In Nelson, Sue Hopkins from David Reid Homes chose a range of Smeg appliances for the company's four-bedroom Highlander show home.
"Smeg has a high profile both locally and overseas, and the Piano Series in particular is characterised by careful attention to design detail and the latest technology," says Hopkins.
"High standards are reflected throughout the house, which features materials such as schist and cedar. So it was natural to look for the same high quality in the appliances for the kitchen."
Beneath the benchtop on the kitchen's back wall are side-by-side 60cm multi-function Piano Series ovens. These allow for simultaneous cooking of multiple courses when entertaining.
Above the ovens is a 100cm six-burner gas cooktop. This easy to clean hob has a range of different sized burners, including two rapid burners.
