Laid-back lifestyle
Two open and light-filled pavilions linked by a louvred pergola define this holiday home designed by Creative Arch
Nostalgia is a powerful influence, and never more so than when it applies to childhood summer holidays. This holiday home revisits the 1970s, but introduces a very contemporary, light-filled living space that flows to large timber decks with a louvred overhead sunshade.
The Sumar holiday house was designed by Mark McLeay of Creative Arch for his own family and friends, and for use as a holiday rental property. McLeay says the house comprises two connected pavilions the main house with two bedrooms, and a smaller pavilion with a separate master suite.
"With a very large, open-plan kitchen and living space in the centre, the house can cater for big groups, with the spacious bedrooms ideal for those who want a little peace and quiet away from the main hub of activity," he says.
The robust construction includes concrete panels and durable polished aggregate floors. Other key features include large, linear skylights, and a timber walkway through the house that helps blur the line between inside and out.
