La dolce vita

Through technology, natural materials are enhanced to produce a singular material, conceived in Italy, but at home anywhere in the world

There are few instances where it can truly be said that man has surpassed nature in aesthetics or permanence. Natural stones such as marble and granite, for example, have long been prized for their visual appeal and durability.

However, natural stones do require ongoing maintenance, and this may see a new, designer Italian product becoming the material of choice, says Luigi Izzo, CEO of Seieffe Corporation.

"Okite® is the marriage between human ingenuity and natural beauty. Composed mainly of natural quartz crystals, Okite is up to 10 times more absorption resistant than granite, making it impervious to common household products such as wine and vinegar."

As Okite is also a fully customizable material, it affords designers greater aesthetic creativity ideal for devising individualized looks across the full spectrum of design possibilities from traditional to contemporary.

Manufactured in Italy a country known for its innovative design products and imported into the US by Seieffe Corporation, Okite comes in a range of fashion colors and finishes to suit any decor. Okite doesn't require specialist equipment either, so any contractor with stone fabrication experience can install the product.

Two of the company's premier color schemes are Okite Bianco Assoluto, promoted as the world's whitest stone product, and Collezione Venati which, says Izzo, is the industry's only veined quartz surfacing product.

"Available in a range of peerless colors, Collezione Venati delivers the look of natural marble but with the benefits of Okite."

Additionally, Okite is an environmentally responsible product, that earns between 8 and 14 points towards LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. To gain certification, building projects must attain a minimum of 40 LEED points.

"Beautiful, durable and environmentally conscious, Okite is ideal for use as a kitchen countertop or for any indoor surfacing need, says Izzo. "It is easy to clean and never needs sealing or polishing, making it an ideal option for residential, commercial, hospitality and healthcare projects."
