Finding sustainable and cost-effective methods of heating water and creating comfortable home, work and play environments has been a hot topic for some years now. A heat pump is one way to solve this issue and this is a system that the Maungatapere Valley Aquatic Centre has adopted to heat its pools and tackle indoor pool condensation.

Hot Water Heat Pumps custom designed and installed a Performance Plus Heat Pump and Vent-Air Heat Recovery, with Condensation Control System for the centre. Hot Water Heat Pumps' Kevin Trigg says the systems were chosen for efficiency and longevity.

"The Performance Plus heat pump was specifically engineered to heat both pools, the air, the floors in the changing rooms, and the water for the showers. Each function heats at the same level of efficiency, as though there was an individual heat pump on each job, when it is in fact just one unit. With the added heat recovery in the indoor environment, running costs are reduced even further. Manipulating the airflow through the enclosure to reduce condensation and evaporation allows patrons to feel comfortable," he says.

Hot Water Heat Pumps Ltd has been designing and manufacturing heat pumps for almost 30 years. Performance Plus heat pumps by Hot Water Heat Pumps Ltd have the longest life expectancy for a heat pump in the southern hemisphere, and are made in New Zealand.
