Keeping it simple
Using a suite of smart wiring, music distribution and security products from one supplier makes creating a smart home easy
The amount of technology incorporated into modern homes can become overwhelming. Using a suite of interrelating technologies by one company helps to simplify matters.
In this home, a Hills Home Hub sends phone, data, video, audio, TV and Pay-TV signals to multiple rooms. The multi-source, multi-room musicsystem can transmit up to four remote sources such as a radio, CD or MP3 player from the home entertainment area to the in-wall or in-ceiling speakers in up to eight other rooms of the house. A music manager in each room lets you control the source remotely. Should you want to listen to something different to everyone else in the house, you can plug in another music source.
Protecting this home is a Hills Alarm System, which uses cameras and door and window sensors to monitor the perimeter. Motion sensors monitor the interior. The alarm system can be controlled remotely and programmed to operate gates, garage doors and lighting. The system doubles as a fire alarm. It can also be connected to a monitoring centre for a human response to alarm activations.
For added security, the Hills Intercom System, with video monitor, lets the owner check who is at the front door before answering it. An audio function allows two-way communication. By pressing a button on the unit you can see what is happening outside the front door at any time.
New to the Hills smart building experience, in the upper end of the market, is the Adagio from Crestron. It is the first Crestron solution with out-of-the-box functionality. Crestron says it is the only home entertainment system that offers built-in expandability for touchpanels, wireless gateways and integration with lighting, HVAC, shade or drape control and security systems. It is also an integrated audio distribution system with a multi-room processor, amplifier and tuners built into a single box with front panel control. Adagio features plug-and-play connectivity with Adagio room expanders, keypads, LCD wall mount controllers and sources such as the Adagio audio server.
