Extra care in the initial planning and design stages pays off many times over later on in any new home building project.

With a corner site, the design team at Landmark Homes wanted to create a house that would have definite street appeal, private outdoor areas, and be comfortable inside.

To achieve these aims, Landmark Homes built its Manuwai design. With an American shingle roof, solid plaster walls and stained, battened soffits the exterior architecture has a strong street appeal.

Inside, this spacious two-level home offers a combination of generous formal and informal open-plan living, dining and kitchen areas, a study and two bedrooms and bathrooms, with another two bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs.

The home features deep architraves, skirting boards and scotias, a large gas fireplace in the open-plan living area and a well-appointed kitchen with a separate walk-in scullery that's concealed behind a bifold door.

Such attention to detail in all areas ensures this is a comfortable home for both families and couples, while the generous proportions make it equally suited to city sites and lifestyle blocks.

Landmark Homes has had more than 30 years' experience constructing houses in the Bay of Plenty, and now builds homes in Auckland and throughout the country.

As well as the Manuwai featured here, Landmark Homes offers many other design options that can be customised to individual budgets and lifestyle requirements. The company also offers its clients a design and build option on their own land, using the services of fully qualified architectural designers.
