Switzerland is a country well known for its scenic beauty and its precision engineering. From pocket knives and watches to particle physics, the country has always been at the forefront of scientific research and technology.

Not surprisingly, Switzerland also has a proud tradition in home appliance technology. And one of the most respected manufacturers in the country is V-Zug, a company that specialises in high-end kitchen and laundry appliances.

Renowned for its innovative approach to appliance design, V-Zug has expanded its distribution network to include Australia.

Oskar Kamber, managing director of the V-Zug operation in Australia says the company's long and proud history gives homeowners the assurance that V-Zug is here to stay.

"Over the past century, V-Zug has delivered kitchen and laundry appliances that meet the toughest demands economy of use, long life and eco-friendly design."

Kamber says the manufacturer, which started life in 1913 as a small galvanising plant in the town of Zug, developed the first hand-powered washing machine in the 1920s.

"Today that same company dominates the residential sector there is a V-Zug appliance in every second household in Switzerland."

V-Zug is still based in Switzerland, and the company is thriving in an unforgiving economic climate it recently opened an impressive new logistics centre that is a testament to the company's ongoing commitment to good design.

Kamber says V-Zug also has a new chief executive officer, Dr Je¼rg Werner, an inventor and mechanical engineer who has been responsible for some of the most innovative products V-Zug has launched into the marketplace.

"The new FutureLine kitchen appliance range, now available in Australia, is a good example of the company's new design direction," says Kamber. "This is a fully co-ordinated collection with a clear language of forms."
