Unsealed joins and gaps around your home can let in damaging water and also be a drain on your power bills. To effectively deal with the situation you need a versatile product that will provide a secure bond without being obvious.

Selleys® All Clear provides an unseen ally in sealing and securing the surfaces around your home, says marketing director Warwick Rounce.

On these pages he answers some common questions about Selleys All Clear.

What types of job can I use Selleys All Clear sealant for? The All Clear sealant prevents water leaks around the home by providing a water-tight barrier. The high-grade sealant is quick and easy to apply, giving a clear and unobtrusive finish. It is well-suited to exterior applications, such as window frames and glazing around skylights, roofs and gutters, or sealing metal or PVC downpipes, and air conditioners' entries.

What are the benefits of using Selleys All Clear? Selleys All Clear is a multipurpose sealant. It bonds well to most surfaces around the home and, being completely clear, it blends easily even around natural timber and shingles.

The sealant contains a water blocking Hydrophobe, an additive that helps seal out water. This advanced formulation will ensure it does not crack or dry out when fully cured, providing a long-lasting water barrier that is mould and mildew resistant

How do I apply Selleys All Clear to an area? Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust. Following the All Clear directions on the cartridge, use a calking gun to apply firmly into a joint. You can smooth the sealant surface with a spatula dipped in turpentine.

Is there an alternative to using a caulking gun? Yes. The All Clear range comes in a 1 litre container that can be applied using a brush. The area should be cleaned and prepared first. Then using a paint brush apply smoothly over the area. The advantage of using this method is that it allows larger areas, irregular cracks and hard to get at spots to be sealed effectively. For smaller areas, there is a 90g tube.

Can I paint over the All Clear sealant? Yes, it can be painted over immediately using water-based paints. If you wish to use an oil-based paint, undercoat the surface first with a water-based paint.
