A high level of specification is evident throughout Sydney's Glebe Harbour apartments, from the kitchen appliances to the joinery and stonework
Apartment buildings generally have the same style of kitchen installed throughout, but to ensure a perfect finish, each apartment must be individually measured.
N & J Joinery made and installed the kitchen joinery for the Boathouse and Shore Terraces apartments in the Glebe Harbour development.
"The exactness of the cabinetry demanded that each kitchen had to be individually measured and manufactured," says Gerry Murphy, sales manager for N & J Joinery.
Kitchen joinery was made from chalked oak veneer, and all corner joins were mitred. Drawers have a soft-touch mechanism, which means that when they are almost closed, a mechanism takes over and draws them gently back without banging.
N & J Joinery was also responsible for the stairwell joinery. The stair treads and decorative wall slats were all manufactured in solid timber. The specially-developed two-pack polyurethane finish to the kitchen and stairwell joinery was applied at N & J Joinery's premises in Ingleburn, Sydney.
At the commencement of the Glebe Harbour development, Australand commissioned N & J Joinery to construct the development display suite at Mountain Street, Sydney. During the construction phase of the development, N & J Joinery was awarded the joinery fit-out contract to provide kitchens and stairwell joinery for Glebe Harbour's premier apartments.
N & J Joinery has had an association with Australand for over 12 years. The company was the joinery contractor for Australand's Altair apartments at Kings Cross, which was the recipient of international architectural awards.
