OF PRIMARY concern in any development is the inclusion of products and materials that not only look good, but will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. That is why natural stone and porcelain tiles are consistently the materials of choice for interior architectural applications.

"With durability a must for any high traffic area, granite is beginning to supplant marble in a variety of applications. Granite's natural imperviousness and high resistance to chemical erosion makes it an easy-maintenance material. Combined with its inherent beauty, these aspects make it highly desirable for commercial applications," says Klaus Ceramic Tiling director Klaus Masannek.

"We have worked with Sunland Group for several years and they have always specified high-quality products for their developments. For Circle on Cavill, Sunland specified black granite with a honed finish for the lobby areas. With its textured matt finish, this is the perfect counterpoint for the polished white ceramic tiles used in the apartments."

Like the granite tiles in the lobby areas, porcelain tiles were specified for the apartments both for their aesthetic qualities and because they too are an easy-maintenance product.

Established in 1973, Klaus Ceramic Tiling specialises in commercial tiling projects and spent more than a year working on Circle on Cavill, says Klaus Masannek.

"While the mechanics of the job were straightforward, the scale made it very demanding. Such was the size of the project that we had 67 people working on site for over a year."
