Metal products from Locker Group fit the bill at this new high school
Exposed steel and metal products enhance the semi-industrial look of the interior of Albany Senior High School. Locker Group liaised closely with the architect to design and manufacture steel balustrading and metal acoustic ceiling panels that would meet the required brief.
The company used Ikon galvanised mesh for balustrades on the atrium stairs, and in Zone 3. Altogether, this part of the project required 154 sheets in a variety of widths and heights, all manufactured locally in the Auckland facility.
The machinery plant deck on the roof utilises Locker Group's Sun 16G expanded metal, powdercoated in Titan, to house all the equipment. The company also supplied corrugated Corr-a-perf acoustic ceiling panels (shown at right) to absorb noise in the large, open classroom areas.
The panels were installed by Sabre Engineering and Alpha Bay.
Locker Group has manufacturing plants in Auckland, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and across Asia. Over the past 50 years, the company has grown extensively, and now boasts an broad range of expanded and perforated metal products, as well as woven wire mesh and belts. The company's products are used in many architectural applications, for privacy screening, ventilation, balustrade infills, acoustics and flooring.
Locker Group also offers the Pic-Perf product, which creates an indelible image in metal.
