Individual accent
This multifunctional, Italian Country kitchen meets the specific needs of the homeowner
A kitchen can fulfill many functions aside from basic food preparation. Some homeowners require a place for children to do homework, or a bar for use when entertaining.
The owner of this home had several cooking-related requirements for designer Angie Keyes from Insignia Kitchen and Bath to incorporate into the kitchen design, but she also requested a desk space.
"We created a Tuscan-style kitchen for this client, with Grabill custom cabinetry and a Perrysburg door style. Turned legs and custom moldings add to the look. The desk is assimilated into the room, and appears like a piece of cabinetry."
Marble floor tiles feature a central rug pattern. This relates to the marble-tiled backsplash, which uses the same colors in a similar diamond pattern. The natural, earthy tones of the marble tiles create a visual connection with the raw bricks on the front of the peninsula countertop, says the designer.
"To add a touch of rustic shine to the kitchen and also to tie in with the Tuscan look, we used brushed bronze acanthus leaf knobs on the upper cabinets."
Cookbook storage was also a request, fulfilled by efficient corner shelving.
