Improving with time
Pewter countertops shine like silver and develop a rich patina over time. This selection, made in France, is available from Purcell Murray
Most homeowners don't want to be a slave to their kitchen counter. To be practical, a top needs to be made from a material that is easy to keep clean and will continue looking good.
Pewter countertops have been made in the Normandy region of France and used in cafes and brasseries for centuries, because they last for generations and, aesthetically, they improve with age.
Purcell Murray imports pewter countertops from France. Each top is individually molded and fabricated by hand in France to meet the specifications of your architect or kitchen designer.
Culinary pewter is a soft metal that is durable and resistant. In time, the top will acquire a rich patina, while also retaining its silvery color. Impacts leave small bruises, which will reflect the light and give the top its own individual appearance. Because the top is molded in one piece, sharp angles can be eliminated. With no joins, it provides a hygienic work surface that is easy to maintain and keep clean.
Countertops from Purcell Murray come in eight styles from an ornate Bordeaux to the sleek lines of the Provence. Other styles include Burgundy, a mix of modern and traditional lines, Brittany with a beveled edge and deep central groove, or the simple, beveled edges of Normandy, which make it a popular choice.
