Inspired by the Olympic torch and making visual reference to the Sydney Opera House, the 80-level Q1 apartment building soars high above the Gold Coast
Construction of a tower the height of Q1 calls for specialists in a wide variety of areas, including the crews for tower cranes and riggers.
Dowell's Building Services provided the general labour to Sunland Constructions and subcontractors for the project, supplying dogmen to operate the tower cranes, and specialised rigging crews to erect, climb and dismantle them.
Dowell's also erected the structural steel from Level 75 to the crown and installed the Tower Spire, which sits 98 metres above Level 75. Riggers, boilermakers and the structural foreman for the project were also supplied by the company.
The company, a locally owned business established in 1997, operates in the residential and commercial construction industry.
Director Robert Dowell says the company has a proven track record for competitiveness and excellence in its service and product.
"We have been involved in numerous high profile projects with most major commercial construction companies and have excellent relationships with them," he says.
