Many homeowners may dream of having a contemporary kitchen. However, modern doesn't need to mean stark. Careful material and colour selection are two of the keys required for creating an inviting space. The goal with this Fineline kitchen, by TM Creations, designed for an established residential developer, was to provide a potential buyer with a well-appointed home, says the designer Antony Paulsen."The client requested a kitchen layout with clean lines and sharp, popular colours. A side-by-side refrigerator and 900mm freestanding cooker were specific requests. A well-lit kitchen adds to a home's appeal, so this was also an important part of the brief," says Paulsen. This meant focal points, such as the red back-painted glass splashback, were essential.Fineline provided sketches of the design concepts to demonstrate how the overhead cupboards and rangehood would look and function, says Paulsen."The client opted for a built-in Powerpack rangehood, enabling us to use slim, wide door units which give the impression of a longer kitchen. Semi-gloss lacquer, composite quartz benches, textured and brushed stainless steel, and back-painted glass were used to provide visual stimulus." A view of some kitchen cabinetry by TM Creations.
