Hive Architecture wins 2022 TIDA Australia Architect-designed Kitchen of the Year
Congratulations to Damian Goode of Hive Architecture, winner of the 2022 TIDA Australia Architect-designed Kitchen of the Year – a kitchen designed to be a bespoke piece of joinery
As part of the reworking of a 1920s Queenslander, a new open plan pavilion was added to this home to accommodate the kitchen, dining and living room.
Within this pavilion, the new kitchen has been designed as a bold piece of custom furniture, creating a strong focal point for the home.
Timber was a natural choice for the cabinetry, with only oil used to finish it, so as to enhance the grain – similar to how the grain might be featured in a piece of bespoke furniture.
Adjacent to the kitchen itself, a curved batten wall in a warm green colour adds a sense of calm to the space. This frames the entrance to the pantry at one end, and houses a convenient study nook at the other.
The TIDA judges were impressed by the refreshing approach to design that this kitchen demonstrates, creating a warm and inviting space in which the joinery exhibits some impressive detailing.
Congratulations to Damian Goode of Hive Architecture – winner of the 2022 TIDA Australian Architect-designed Kitchen of the Year.
