Here's to the future

Wilco Precast has a strong work history with Fletcher Construction. This, combined with an ability to create complex architectural forms and offer competitive pricing, led to Wilco being asked to manufacture and supply precast components for the complex, says contracts manager Colin Beavis.

"This contract required 189 precast columns, 207 spandrels, 123 stair panels and retaining panels and 10 flights of stairs," says Beavis. "The large number of components and a short delivery time posed an initial challenge. Purpose-made shipping brackets enabled the components to be delivered in quantity, more efficiently and on time."

While the structural components, such as beams, are not seen and the precast spandrels were bricked over in-situ, the rest of the exterior concrete panels were specified with a natural concrete finish which demanded a high quality surface on three faces.
