Heaven on earth
Oriented to the outlook over picturesque wine country, this master suite is reminiscent of traditional French and Italian villas, in more ways than one
Recapturing the sense of escape that defines a European vacation may seem impossible, but the builder of this house has managed to successfully achieve such a dream.
Jon Reiter of Jon Reiter Fine Homes took his cue from traditional French and Italian architecture, designing a house that features similar building materials, both inside and out.
The character can be seen in the master suite, which has the same heavy reclaimed beams and Italian-made, in-swing casement windows that feature throughout the house.

The piéce de resistance in the master bathroom, however, is a restored French antique clawfoot bath. The bath is positioned beside a window so the owners can enjoy views of the surrounding countryside and vineyards.
Carrara marble from Italy features on the vanity top and floor tiles. These are laid on the diagonal, with a border, to create a more seamless finish.
To enhance the traditional look, the shower walls are smoothly plastered just as they would be in Italian houses.
But the interior is more refined than rustic nickel-plated faucets and fittings add a luxurious touch.
