A shift in location accomplishes more than a consolidation of staff and resources it is also a chance to upgrade and optimise desking and office furniture systems.

Commercial Solutions Australia (CSA) supplied demountable tile systems, workstations and custom joinery solutions for the busy Cardno environment, says CSA general manager Allan Murphy.

"Part of our brief was to ensure free-flowing work spaces, maximising the benefit of the open-plan environments that were part of the attraction for Cardno in taking up this tenancy," says Murphy. "The tile systems provide privacy without isolation. All cabling is tucked into these elements, so that when the time comes to rearrange systems to accommodate change or expansion, there will be no need to go into ceilings and under floors. The workstations can also be easily reconfigured as required."

Another important aspect of the project for CSA was the fabrication of custom furniture, following designs created by the architects.

CSA currently produces over 50,000 furniture and seating items each year, and has the capacity to produce double these quantities. The company has a Sydney showroom and warehouse facilities, along with an exclusive dealer network from Darwin to Melbourne.
