Small towns don't always get the attention they deserve, but this is not the case for the Taranaki township of Hawera. The town has a bright new sports and events centre the TSB Hub in Hicks Park.

Designed by Jackson Architects and built by WW Construction, the complex brings together a number of indoor and outdoor facilities, from field sports to hard court and indoor stadium sports. The stadium can double as a concert and entertainment hall that seats up to 2000, or 1000 for a seated banquet. There is also a health and fitness centre.

The eye-catching exterior of the building was painted in a variety of Resene paints. Resene Waterborne Woodsman tinted to Resene Limed Stone a grey shade features on rough-sawn ply. This is complemented by Resene Lumbersider waterborne satin tinted to Resene Rice Cake a sharp yellow white on the concrete block and Titan board. Other areas are painted in Resene Half Stack, and the tree column at the front of the building is in Resene Bullseye a rich wine hue.

The steelwork is protected by Engineered Coating Systems Resene Armourcote 510 and Resene Uracryl. These paints were tinted to match Colorsteel Cloud.

Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen and Resene Zylone Sheen feature throughout the interior, in a range of shades, including Resene Quarter Pravda and Resene Double Oilskin. Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Bright Sun provides a strong accent to offset more neutral areas. Timber walls in the gymnasium are finished in Resene Qristal Clear satin, while the blockwork is in Resene Multishield+ Satin. Doors and trim are finished in Resene Lusta-Glo semi-gloss tinted to Resene Oilskin and Resene Rice Cake. The paintwork includes bold stripes in the cafeteria.
