Specially designed louvre panels fit the bill
Although Carlaw Park sits in a hollow, the site is drenched with sun. Heat is often an issue because the land is too low to catch any of the prevailing winds.
Louvretec was contracted to design, manufacture and install a product to keep out the heat but let in the light and views. The plans specified a louvre panel shaped like a trapezoid, says sales manager Steve Waal. To fit the design brief, Louvretec crafted a new blade as well as creating a method to fix the final product in place on the structure.
"Research and development was critical to this job," he says. "In the end, the company liked the panel developed especially for the project so much that we introduced it into the product range."
Wrapping around the perimeter of the commercial building, the company placed end-fixed 120mm Louvreline Weatherboard panels. The interior courtyard walls were fitted with a bracket-fixed 180mm Louvreline Weatherboard Panel. The Silver Anodised colour complements the natural tones of the building and the silver-grey joinery.
Although designed to be used externally, aluminium Louvreline panels can be installed inside, too. For a different look, the product can be placed vertically.
Louvretec also designs, manufactures and installs aluminium shutter and opening roofs for both commercial and residential projects. Many of the systems are multi-functional.
