After all, holiday homes are all about laid-back living and casual entertaining.To create such a relaxing, low-maintenance environment for the owners of this beach house, designer Celia Visser of Celia Visser Design provided a simple, streamlined interior that maximises indoor-outdoor flow."Because the kitchen is always the social centre of the house, it needed to be positioned so the owners could move easily between the barbecue area and herb garden," Visser says. "We also wanted to enhance the ocean view." This sleek kitchen in a beach house features white lacquered cabinetry with Corian Rice Paper benchtops. Materials were chosen with this in mind. The colour of the backpainted glass splashbacks, for example, reflects the blue-green of the sea.To provide virtually seamless benchtops that would also be low maintenance, Visser specified Corian in Rice Paper from The Laminex Group."This solid surface has a slight fleck that makes the benchtop more interesting," she says. "Because the rear benchtop extends out beyond the glass to the terrace, I wanted the surface to be as seamless as possible."
