Updating the look of your home can be as simple as re-colouring your aluminium joinery

Life has moved on since the 1980s, when red brick and matching red aluminium windows were chosen for this Lake Tarawera property. Rather than removing the windows, the owners decided to re-coat and restore the dated red joinery to match the new stone facade.

Re-coating the original aluminium joinery on site, rather than installing new windows, saved the owners thousands of dollars, says Steve Todd of AluRestore.

"The careful application systems we used also meant that the original rubber seals around the windows and all the handles and fittings were left in a pristine condition," he says.

AluRestore specialises in repairing and re-colouring aluminium joinery on domestic and business premises. Faded joinery can either be re-coated in the existing colour or matched exactly to the colour of newly-installed joinery. This is useful for extensions, where the owner wants existing joinery to match the colour of the new windows.

"The coatings have been trialled in the corrosive environment of the Bay of Plenty, where they maintain their lustrous, long-lasting finish. All the coatings are extremely durable and come with manufacturers' warranties," says Steve Todd.
