French quarter

Traditional Normandy cottages are renowned for their use of natural materials. Wood flooring in several of the 675 West Paces Ferry homes, including the remodeled manor house, was supplied by Custom Hardwoods Limited.

The flooring in the bedroom of the manor house, shown above, features 5-inch oak boards, which replicate traditional French cottage flooring. The wood strips and border in the stone floor of the wine cellar (above right) are 6-inch teak boards.

Custom Hardwoods owner Bud Ferguson worked extensively with the design team and stone mason to achieve a floor that would enhance the overall beauty of the wine cellar.

"Many of our projects convey the specific look and feel an architect, designer or homeowner is trying to express whether it's European oak, river-reclaimed cypress or 20ft-long antique pine."
