Salvaged timbers evoke an earlier era
Authenticity is enhanced by architectural detailing. For homes in the 675 West Paces Ferry project, the use of antique timber from Vintage Beams and Timbers helps to create a sense of history.
Company president Edward Knapp says the use of 150-year-old timbers contributes to the old-world look of the new development.
"In addition to sourcing quality antique timbers that already have their own history, Vintage Beams and Timbers can duplicate original period details," he says. "These may include specially designed corbels or a construction method that replicates traditional craftsmanship."
Knapp says for this project the company supplied antique timber supports, beams, corbels, doors and floors, including carved floors.
"These items are all quality timbers, salvaged from a variety of sources. But despite their antique value, we were able to provide competitive pricing. Antique timbers can be a cost-effective option for homeowners."
