We've all heard the saying, less is more, used in conjunction with design and architecture, but have we ever bothered to examine the ramifications this approach has on the products around us?

Stripped of ornamentation, a product's worth is judged primarily on its innate usefulness and raw beauty.

As a devotee of the principles of the Bauhaus School the combination of craft and fine arts Bulthaup designs and manufactures kitchens that embody precision and artistry, says Jed MacKenzie CKD, project designer for Bulthaup Denver.

"A Bulthaup kitchen always strives for perfection in the essentials of minimalism, form and function, and ergonomics. This continual attention to detail and quality is a hallmark of the brand.

"Coupled with a design approach based on the architecture of the room and the individual needs of the client, Bulthaup delivers a service and product that is truly unmistakable."

Trading under the auspices of parent company Kitchen Distributors, with almost 60 years of industry experience, Bulthaup Denver prides itself on providing creative and detail-oriented solutions to enhance clients' lifestyles.

For this kitchen, the homeowner was looking for a centerpiece to an open-plan living space, says MacKenzie.

"Integration on a number of levels was extremely important from a macro level of providing a seamless connection between indoors and out, to a micro level that included an attached dining table for a teppanyaki-style experience."

To reference the link between the built and natural environments, and also to add an element of softness to the minimalist design, horizontally matched walnut veneer was specified for the perimeter cabinetry and island front.

"The clients have created a home that is all about entertaining," says MacKenzie. "The architecture encourages relaxed gathering, so the kitchen works as an extension of this. Two distinct cooking centers allow for a variety of entertaining options, from intimate gatherings where guests take part in the action, to larger affairs requiring professional catering."

"For 10 years Bulthaup Denver has been serving the people of Colorado with expertise and dedication," says MacKenzie.
