Home theatre technology has come a long way from the clunky old film reels that once cluttered the living room. These days it is possible to watch movies with state-of-the-art special effects from the comfort of your living room.

Quiet, stylish projectors that deliver top quality entertainment in brilliant colour and depth are now available from Epson New Zealand, says marketing services manager Anjna Patel.

Epson is one of the world's largest manufacturers of LCD projector technology. The company has expanded its range of dedicated home cinema projectors with the launch of the EMP-TW200 and the EMP-TW500, Patel says.

"We own the technology and therefore lead the innovation. As the trend for home cinema systems continues to grow, Epson is ideally positioned to offer a wide range of high-performance projectors to meet the diverse needs of the market."

The two new projectors are equipped with Epson's newly developed high-definition television (HDTV) compatible wide aspect liquid crystal panels.

"The viewer is able to appreciate the beauty of high quality imagery reproduced on the big screen," Patel says.

Both projectors have a 1.5x optical power zoom lens and a lens shift function. This allows the image to shift both vertically and horizontally, to give a high degree of positioning freedom. The viewer can therefore project from a wide range of locations around the room without altering the image quality or screen dimensions, Patel says.

To ensure optimum levels of brightness and contrast, both projectors have variable brightness control. The EMP-TW500 has a lens adjustment function, which produces a high-contrast ratio of 1200:1. It has a built in, motion adaptive Faroudja chip to smooth the edges of the fastest action sequence in the largest image. The EMP-TW200 has a contrast ration of 1000:1.
