Following the contours
The curved shape of this home reflects the lines of the local terrain
B efore drawing up a set of house plans, an architect will consider the local landscape. Where the surroundings are inspirational, the architecture of the house needs to reflect it.
When Aldo Andreoli of Sanba Design and Development began his plans to build in the gated community of The Estates at North Slopes in Sedona, Arizona, he envisioned a residence that would maximize the potential of the location. Set among ancient junipers and tall pinion pines, Luna Rossa is designed to follow the contours of the land, and to be private, protected from the sun, and enjoy the spectacular views.
Luna Rossa is modern in design, and shows a close attention to detail both on the exterior and inside. Large rooms with graceful proportions face an 85ft-long, negative-edged pool before looking out to the canyon beyond. Living areas revolve around a private internal garden, so all spaces flow harmoniously together, and the kitchen incorporates top-of-the-line European and American appliances. For comfort, oversized windows are double glazed for thermal protection.
