Finely tuned
This kitchen's emphasis on good design and high performance is reflected in the choice of Renzo Piano-designed appliances from Smeg
Contemporary kitchen design has become increasingly architectural, in both looks and functionality. It makes sense, therefore, to choose appliances that reflect a similar design approach.
To complement the streamlined SieMatic kitchen shown here, the team at the Palazzo Design and Asmac Appliances showroom in Christchurch specified Renzo Piano-designed Smeg appliances in polished stainless steel.
Palazzo Design's South Island managing director Craig Hider says the appliance design, from the renowned Italian architect, is the ideal match for the company's top-of-the-line kitchen collection.
"While Smeg's Renzo Piano appliances provide the functionality our clients are looking for, they also offer so much more in terms of aesthetic appeal," he says. "They are almost like pieces of art in the kitchen."
Appliances on show include the KMD1030XL stainless steel hood, which features a four-speed fan, halogen lighting and electronic controls.
The Renzo Piano P705 stainless steel hob not only provides five powerful burners, but has long-life stainless steel burner caps, pan stands and pivoted control knobs.
Sleek, simple lines define the Renzo Piano 60cm-wide stainless steel oven, which has a safe-to-touch triple-glazed door. The oven has 10 functions, including fan-forced and turbo settings for maximum versatility.
Washing-up is also easy with the Smeg Piano Series 60cm-wide dishwasher. An extra-quiet operation, easy-glide chrome baskets and multiple wash programmes for both half and full loads are some of the features.
