fine finish
Ideal for a ventilated building facade system, this vitrified porcelain stoneware replicates the texture and colour of real stone and requires no maintenance
NO Longer should the choice of a suitable hard surface for a building facade leave you between a rock and a hard place. There are many products on the market, all of which have different purposes.
Rocks On has been working with quality surface materials for over 14 years and offers in-depth knowledge of a wide range of hard surface solutions.
"Understanding the characteristics of each hard surface and the applications in which it can be used is the first step," says John Berry of Rocks On.
The company supplies the Rock & Rock series of porcelain stoneware from Roca in Spain. While the product can be used indoors for walls and flooring, it's also particularly suitable for ventilated building facades.
An aluminium structure is fitted to the existing building facade, and the ceramic pieces are joined to this by metal hooks. This creates an ecological skin that insulates the building, thereby saving energy and improving soundproofing. It is a system suitable for both new buildings and renovations.
Rock & Rock is double-pressed and manufactured using a technology known as Tallado', which means the raw material is cut before being fired in the kiln, giving the edges a clean finish.
"The textures and colours you get replicate natural stones. The product is lightweight and resists weathering, frosts, acids and chemicals. It does not scratch or stain," he says.
Rock & Rock comes in large format sizes including 600x1200, 300x1200, 600x600 and 300x600.
"These large format sizes are much like slabs of stone and are quite unusual in the market. Also, this level of attention to detail, in terms of replicating the texture and colours of natural stone, is something you rarely see done so well," he says.
Rocks On consultants are available by appointment only. They offer guidance in terms of the most suitable hard surface for any given project. This level of service continues right through to recommendations for tiling, cleaning and maintenance to ensure every project retains its integrity, well into the future.
