The owners wanted their new kitchen to be a focal point for the family, and to be functional without sacrificing style or creativity," the designer says. The raised breakfast bar makes it easier to serve quick meals, which eases the family's hectic schedule of activities. To improve functionality, the new design defined specific areas for particular activities. For cooking, the oven and warming drawer are together on the side wall. Peninsula cabinetry provides a transition between the kitchen and family area, and creates zones for tasks such as preparation, clean-up and entertaining.
