Face of change
Enery-efficient roofing was supplied and installed by Red 8 Roofing
Capping the Electrolux building's modern design is an ultra-efficient roofing system. Craned into place after the structural steel framework was erected, the roof is both low-maintenance and thermally passive.
Red 8 Roofing installed several distinct products to create an effective roof for the Electrolux head office, says director Jason Cavanagh.
"Initially Ausmesh 300 was laid to support insulation and to ensure safety for construction roof workers while the job was in progress," says Cavanagh. "After this a foil and blanket vapour-check thermal insulation was introduced, followed by Colorbond roof sheeting."
The roof a 0.48 Stramit Speed Deck Ultra 700mm offers wide coverage, meaning fewer sheets and quicker installation. Deep ribs make the roof stronger and stiffer, with better water-carrying capacity. The completed roof slopes as little as 1°.
Other roofing elements used on the project include internal box gutterings, with syphonic outlets to maximise drainage efficiency, and flashings in .6 Colorbond. A CSR parapet capping wraps over the apron flashing, down over the parapet and then over the wall cladding, providing a secure join between all.
Red 8 Roofing undertakes commercial, industrial and residential roofing. The company, in business for 18 years, has extensive experience in all aspects of the industry and fits all types of metal roofing.
"Our partnerships with many local and international companies ensure Red 8 Roofing only installs superior, functional materials," says Cavanagh. "We are consistently updated on the latest products, styles, colours and trends available."
