The owners of the kitchen on this page wanted a suitable backdrop for their collection of art and furniture, says designer Sian Gillanders.
"The brief included a desire to retain a furniture-like feel, along with attention to detail, texture and balance between existing windows."
Charcoal grey cabinetry retains a neutral tone to highlight the colourful art forms, while aluminium edge detailing highlights the shape and form of the cabinetry. The desired furniture feel is achieved with aluminium plinth bases.
The kitchen on the facing page met the owners' request for a dramatic, yet neutral tone with a contemporary, timeless appeal, says designer Laura Price.
The cabinetry colour was chosen to match the wall colours. Contrasting benchtops CaesarStone on the island benchtop and stainless steel on the hob benchtop create interest and further emphasise designated work zones.
"Feature recessed lighting under the dark Raven privacy panel fulfils the dramatic requirement and creates atmosphere," says Price.
