Every picture tells a story
Experience is everything these new kitchens reflect the professional expertise of the design team at Drury Design

For most people, a kitchen remodeling project may only happen only two or three times in the course of a lifetime. So it can be difficult to plan, let alone visualize, a new kitchen.
For the designers at Drury Design, however, such planning is all in a day's work. The design team, which has won a string of NKBA kitchen design awards in recent years, is fully up to date with design trends, materials and technology.
These two projects reflect the team's client-focused approach to kitchen design. The kitchen shown above, designed by Janice Teague, CKD, CBD, replaces a kitchen that dated back to the 1960s. To bring more light into the room, the owner, an interior designer, raised the ceiling to follow the gable of the roof, creating a new window and a more spacious interior.
In keeping with the French Country style of the house, the kitchen features white-painted cabinets, which also provide a light, airy look.
"The client didn't want the room to look too stark, so we introduced a dark-charcoal, furniture-style island with a brushed New Venetian Gold countertop," Teague says. "The island brings a more relaxed ambiance to the kitchen."
Other distinctive features include honed Black Noche granite countertops on the perimeter cabinets, a custom-designed beadboard hood and in-cabinet lighting for displaying china.
The kitchen on this page, designed by Gail Drury, CMKBD, is an updated version of a cottage style that dates back to the early 1900s. Often called the Hamptons style, the design is characterized by its simplicity. Simple flat-panel inset doors have minimal adornment, but crystal knobs on the crisp white paint add an elegant look.
The kitchen also features granite countertops and a custom-designed pewter hood, sink and backsplash, which add a contemporary touch.

Drury Design has an established relationship with Grabill Cabinets in neighboring Indiana a company that has been handcrafting high-end kitchens for more than half a century and now has a staff of two hundred. Drury says Grabill maintains its original values in respect to innovative engineering and quality construction, and will always go the extra mile for clients.
