Enjoying the outlook
Complex council restrictions and an unusually challenging site are all in a day's work for the team at Graham Jones Design

Obstacles and difficulties can be the catalyst a designer requires to get the creative juices flowing.
Graham Jones Design worked closely with the homeowners and with Rosemary Pollock of KIS Interior Design, to create a plan that makes the most of this site overlooking Port Phillip Bay in Melbourne.
The design had to conform to complex local authority requirements and restrictions, and also maximise the northerly aspect and views towards Portsea and the heads.

General manager David Hammond says the result is an exercise in careful spatial planning that called for creative thinking and problem-solving.
"The angular design of the house minimises wasted space, yet creates a seamless link with the outdoor living areas. An open floor plan and expansive glazing in the living rooms makes them engaging and practical," he says.
Separate living zones allow privacy for the modern family, but also cater for close communal living. Part of Graham Jones Design's success lies in the firm's close relationships with clients, contractors and local authorities.

"First established in 1988, the company is now well known for its innovative and contemporary designs."
