Italy's Emilia-Romagna is one of the world's great culinary regions, famous for prosciutto di Parma and delicious pastas. The area also shares a history of engineering it is the home of Ferrari.

The traditions of Italian design and substantial engineering have been combined by the Bertazzoni family, which has crafted ovens and ventilation systems for four generations. Suitable for the serious cook or the weekend chef, Bertazzoni products unite professional-grade ranges with clean, crisp lines, says principal Paolo Bertazzoni.

Bertazzoni has fused the traditional commercial-look range with distinct styling elements of Italian origin, creating the designer pro range.

"Some people think that Bertazzoni is another European brand priced in the e¼ber category, while in reality, our products offer exceptional value with no compromise on quality or performance. We stand by that our family name is on every single unit we produce," Bertazzoni says.

Design and value were among the reasons kitchen manufacturer SieMatic chose a Bertazzoni oven and range hood to complement its contemporary cabinets, says design consultant Brian Z Allen.

"We wanted to put together a kitchen that would demonstrate to our customers that excellent design does not necessarily have to be overpriced," Allen says. "Bertazzoni is a good price for the quality you get. It was the ideal range for creating a showroom display conveying the sophistication of the homeowner's taste."

Color was another reason Allen specified the Bertazzoni range. He sought bold black with a modern design to highlight white laminate cabinetry, and Bertazzoni fit the bill. The colors used for the ovens owe their richness to car makers such as Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati, which shared their signature shades with the company.

"It's a multi-layer process and it shows," says Bertazzoni. "The end result is a color that has an automotive finish and luster."

Eight colors join the original stainless steel finish of the Professional Series, which features gas and dual fuel ranges.

"The dual fuel option allows for gas burners and an electric oven, providing the best of both worlds," says Bertazzoni. "The electric oven includes the highly popular self-cleaning function. And it's common knowledge that many serious cooks prefer to cook on gas burners."

The high-efficiency gas worktop is designed to minimize both the use of energy and time spent in the kitchen. This was achieved through extraordinary engineering, which reduces the distance between the flame and the cookware, meaning 30% less cooking time.

A one-touch ignition system lets the cook light and adjust the burners with one hand. Safety measures immediately cut gas flow when the flame goes out, even during a power cut.
