When Sven Hager converted a 1970s Wellington residence back from two flats into a large family home, substantial remodeling was required to convert the neutral spaces into a cosy, vibrant interior. A key aspect of the makeover was Hager’s selection of Resene paints and finishes.
“Choices were inspired by Island Bay’s rugged coast for an earthy, sophisticated look – warm wall tones with bold accents.”
To this end, he chose Resene Quarter Nullarbor, a pastel brown, as the main wall colour with Resene Half Alabaster for the ceilings. To provide a charcoal element that links the various spaces, Resene Double Foundry was selected as the ceiling trim.
“For the reinvented kitchen, Resene Dusty Road – a mink brown – complements the main wall colour,” says Hager. “The adjacent laundry is in Resene Wild Thing, a bright yellow that creates the effect of a larger, lighter space.”
In the renovated upstairs bathroom, Resene Half Cut Glass, an icy green-blue, projects calm and a connection to water.
Resene All Black and Resene White Lustacryl were selected for the yin/yang-sliders in the bathroom, the door frames included. And Resene Smashing, a vibrant red, is matched with Resene All Black for the laundry sliders – connecting to the red Seratone in the kitchen and the bathroom.
