Double take
Double glazing saves heat and reduces noise it can also complement your outlook
For many years, double glazing has been used in homes throughout Europe, to provide thermal insulation and drown traffic noise. Today an increasing number of New Zealanders are finding it viable for improving energy efficiency without compromising the outlook in new or existing homes.
Brent Martin of Metro GlassTech says that with unpredictable and often challenging New Zealand weather conditions, Kiwis are intrinsically aware of the need for energy efficient warmth in winter and cool living during summer.
However Martin says that apart from delivering numerous practical advantages over traditional glazing such as enhancing resale value double glazing reduces energy costs, saving up to 50% of heat lost through windows.
"GlassTech double glazing can comprise the optimum insulation combination of Low-E glass and Argon gas to exceed the latest energy conservation regulations for thermal home insulation," he says.
Metro GlassTech's domestic and commercial range of products includes double glazing options, pool surrounds, safety glass, mirrors, frameless balustrades and glass furniture.
