Distinctive face Hilton Queenstown Hotel joinery by Aluminium Systems

High-end joinery particularly window and door profiles can have a major influence on the finished look of a building. Acting as refined architectural jewellery', the right product will both underscore the sculptural form of the building and reflect positively on the standard of build.

Designed by Koia Architects, the new Hilton Queenstown is set in New Zealand's most paradisal getaway location and international playground. Besides spectacular outlooks, the 20,000m² upmarket destination hotel has 178 bedrooms, an indoor swimming pool and gymnasium, as well as conference facilities and a gourmet restaurant.

Naturally, the five-star hotel's large, panoramic windows and sliding glass doors are angled to make the most of the expansive views. The resulting complex, curved wall facades of the hotel called for specialist joinery creation and installation.

Aluminium Systems Ltd (ASL) supplied the contemporary-profile Architectural Series joinery for the project, the product specified for its refined appearance, high-spec performance and rugged, mountain-proof weatherseals, says ASL head of marketing Rod Andrews.

"More than 200 unique joinery items were designed and manufactured to agreed sizes and tolerances," says Andrews. "The preproduction minimised site measurements by fabricator Ellisons, fast-tracking production and installation."

ASL is one of the largest aluminium joinery system suppliers to the Australasian construction industry. The company also supplies and supports a nationwide fabricator network that operates in residential, architectural and commercial markets.
