Part of the appeal of any residence is easy access to outdoor areas. At the Perspective Apartments, expansive floor-to-ceiling glass doors, manufactured by Alutech Windows & Doors, offer maximum light and ventilation, as well as easy access to balcony space.

Christchurch-based Alutech Windows & Doors manufactures joinery for both commercial and residential projects throughout New Zealand. Over the years, the company has completed a number of projects with Arrow International nationwide, says Auckland-based project manager, Aaron Shepherd.

"The brief for this project was to manufacture large, overheight sliding and hinged doors that could handle the very high wind loads specified for this development, while not compromising the weathering performance of the window system."

One new challenge met on this project included preparing the frames as kitsets. This was necessary as the doors measure the full height and width of the apartments. The final assembly was completed within the actual apartment.
