Desert oasis

Creating a natural landscape was a priority for the owners of the Las Vegas house. Consequently, natural rock from Parsons Walls was specified for the retaining walls.

Chief executive officer Kevin Parsons says the walls not only help to create a flat, usable area of land, but also enhance the landscaping.

"The natural stone blends and intermingles with the desert surroundings, and looks as though it has always been there."

Parsons says limestone rocks were specified. But as the limestone is very white when mined, it was treated with a Permeon stain.

"This makes it appear aged so it fits in with the surroundings. Limestone retaining walls also have the advantage of not cracking, staining or leaching calcium," he says.

Parsons Walls is a third-generation, family- owned company specializing in custom rock retaining walls. These can be built to any specification from 2ft-high decorative structures to 18ft retaining walls.
