Ensuring a large space feels warm and inviting can be done by introducing a variety of colors and textures. These may be with fabric, wood, glass, paint or lighting.

To give this home warmth and richness, the interior design features custom cabinetry made from dark toned wood. Shelves, cabinets, book cases and other customized wood features were designed and crafted by Custom Design Cabinets, a company headed by Jacob Dorenbaum. Five generations of his family have been involved in the cabinetmaking business.

"For this project, our design objective was to enhance the architectural flow of the home and to complement the eclectic, individual style the owners wanted to achieve," he says.

Custom Design Cabinets worked with a variety of woods including lacewood, macassar and ebony.

"The dark tones in the wood and the exotic veneers work well with the owners' international art collection," says Dorenbaum.
