The concept of a home at the seaside or nestled in the bush is close to all our hearts because of its simplicity. So what could make owning and constructing a house in your chosen spot easier?

To answer this question, a group of well-established companies formed a collaborative to create Axis, a series of transportable, design-driven homes that can be delivered to most North Island sites, ready to move into and enjoy, with minimal set-up and hassle.

The Axis concept was developed when designers Yellowfox joined forces with PLB Construction Group to work on the idea of adding a designer range to PLB's current transportable home offering. The Axis design was created by architect Mark Frazerhurst, along with Yellowfox's designers and associates, and Carter Holt Harvey as the main supporter of the venture.

Yellowfox developed three distinct interior and exterior design schemes Axis Ocean, Axis Metro and Axis Earth. Each pays tribute to the natural materials and designer elements this home has to offer, while varying the colour schemes and material choices. These can be chosen to match with the site, or to fit with the homeowner's personal tastes.

While they are transportable, Axis homes cannot be compared with other prefabricated housing. High-end products are used in the designs, such as Electrolux appliances, Hettich kitchen and bathroom hardware and Living Edge soft furnishings. Bestwood Melamine is used for the kitchen cabinetry, with a Quarella island benchtop. Bedrooms feature carpets from Norman Ellison. The lighting throughout the home is from Lighting Direct.

The long, open-plan living area extends onto the outdoor decking on two sides via large sliding doors, allowing for enjoyment of the natural environment.
