Deceptively simple
Although this master suite is part of a very large home, it has been designed in a French country cottage style
For most of us, when we think of a cottage we picture a small, simple house with tiny windows and sloping ceilings.
This master bedroom and bathroom are part of a 9000 sq ft house, which is designed and decorated in a French country cottage style, with steeply pitched ceilings, mullioned bay and dormer windows and warm, yellow wall tones.

Architect James La Rue says the geometry of the bay windows allowed him to experiment with the spaces.
"We have taken the cottage style into the bathroom and created an octagonal-shaped room with a U-shaped vanity that follows the curve of the bay," he says.
A second window over the Whirlpool tub ensures the bathroom is filled with natural light, and because the window is high, the owners are assured of privacy from neighbors.
The bedroom and bathroom are connected through the large closet, which includes a packing island. For additional convenience, a staircase from the closet provides the owners with their own private access to a washer/dryer on the lower level and to an exercise room, cigar room and the swimming pool and spa.
