While most pool owners know the many benefits of keeping a cover on their pool, for some the issue can be aesthetic as well as functional. When not in use, some styles of pool cover can be unsightly and many can be difficult to use.

It is for this reason that BMH Pool Covers has introduced a range of automatic slat covers into the New Zealand market. Sourced from a major French manufacturer of pool-related products, BMH slat covers consist of interconnected extruded hollow plastic slats, which are rolled out over the water via a submerged reel system, says BMH's managing director Greg Crozier.

"This technology was developed in Europe over several decades. It is simpler and more reliable than other automatic systems, and avoids the complexity of tracked covers," he says.

The slats fulfil both technical and aesthetic requirements. Slightly undulated underneath, they increase the thermal yield of the cover, while the shiny upper surface is pleasing to the eye.

"Pool covers are unsurpassable for heat retention, low evaporation and reduced chemical use. Our pool covers also require minimal maintenance," says Greg Crozier.
