Country chic
To add visual impact to this new country house, the designer introduced Stutex Stone's Edgestone accents with high-country tonings
Even a modern house can be enhanced by traditional features, be it the pitch of a gabled roof, a dormer window or stone accents.
This new country house was designed to complement its surroundings a picturesque, leafy subdivision in the Waikato heartland. The exterior of the house combines dark weatherboards and plastered walls with distinctive stone accents in high country tonings.
Stutex Stone's Edgestone ES77 from the Cerastone range clads the arched entrance to the house. The Edgestone also features around the front of the garage, which is reminiscent of a traditional English stables building.
Director Lorraine Goudie says Stutex Stone's manufactured stone profiles replicate regional stone from around New Zealand, and feature intricate surface textures that can barely be distinguished from natural stone.
"The veneers provide an easy way to achieve a natural stone appearance without the usual associated cost," she says. "The light weight of the veneers means they can be installed over standard foundations without the need for extra structural bracing. Fast and efficient installation provides further cost savings."
Homeowners can also have confidence in the stone it has a BEAL (Building Element Assessment Laboratory) appraisal (No C827), and features on many houses and commercial buildings throughout the country.
