Cottage charm
This cottage has been transformed by the addition of a new floor, but has retained its character thanks to Cape Cod Australia's attention to detail
Adding a second storey provides extra space and will always increase the value of a home. But designed and constructed the right way, it can also enhance the exterior and interior style and character of a property.
In this Federation-style cottage, Cape Cod Australia created an upper storey with two bedrooms and a bathroom, and completed a few additionalinterior and exterior renovations.
At the front of the house, on the ground floor, the enclosed veranda was demolished, rebuilt and opened up. Boxed windows were used on the veranda and the master bedroom immediately above to remain true to the heritage styling of the cottage.
Further touches, which ensured the renovation did not interfere with the property's original character included exposing the rafter ends under the roof eaves.
Cape Cod Australia has designed and built second storey additions since 1965, renovating in a variety of styles and using a broad range of materials.
The company has its own team of architects, designers and contractors, and has access to a wide range of suppliers.
Cape Cod Australia prides itself on its commitment to design, service and quality workmanship, and has won a number of industry awards for quality and design.
