This kitchen has been designed for entertaining, with appliances from Smeg taking centre stage
Kitchens that are designed for easy entertaining dictate that cooking appliances are prominently displayed. This increased visibility means factors such as sculptural appeal and easy-to-clean surfaces are important considerations when choosing appliances.
When managing director of David Reid Homes in Canterbury, Kendall Langston, built this new show home, he installed a Smeg cooktop on the island benchtop, rather than against the wall.
"I wanted to emphasize the benefits of open-plan living, so I had the cooktop face the dining and living area. The clean lines of Smeg appliances match the sleek edges of the joinery and enhance the overall look of the kitchen," he says.
The Smeg P106 stainless steel gas hob has automatic electronic ignition and is set up for natural gas and includes wok burners.
Above the cooktop, the sculptural appeal of the Smeg stainless steel island rangehood provides a sleek focal point in the room. It has a four-speed fan with re-circulating options and electronic controls.
