This new country residence, which is for sale, also features a large courtyard. All the main living areas open out to an expansive view of a neighbouring golf course in one direction, and to a stand of manuka trees in the other. The interior is defined by light-filled living areas that open to the outdoors. Contemporary residential architecture is just as much at home in the country as the city. With seamless living spaces and full-height glazing, such houses suit a relaxed, outdoor lifestyle. This modern Hamilton house, designed and built by established family firm, Clive White Construction, in conjunction with architect Kevin Findsen, was built to maximise a highly picturesque location bordering a golf course. Resene Foggy Grey from the Karen Walker range was specified for parapets and columns on the house. For this project, Resene Sonyx 101 semi-gloss waterborne paint was used. Being an Environmental-Choice approved paint, Resene Sonyx 101 is low VOC, which translates to improved air quality and better working conditions for painters. Ellenor White of Clive White Construction says the company specialises in high-end homes and the use of natural, sustainable materials. For this house, which is on the market, the company specified Litecrete, a lightweight precast concrete wall system."We coated the panels with a clear finish that enhances the natural, marbled effect," says White.
