In today's busy world, taking a bath is much more about relaxation than simple hygiene, making the tub and bathroom environment especially important when enhancing the overall bathing experience.

The latest tub from Victoria & Albert is designed with this in mind. The freestanding Napoli is not just a functional tub - it's a sculptural installation.

Edward Taylor, the president of Victoria & Albert's US headquarters, says the Napoli's ultra-contemporary design is the result of more than a decade of freestanding bath development, and is inspired by the pure organic form of an egg. The tub is a 75-inch-long, low-slung ovoid shape that provides ergonomic comfort and cocoons the bather. It is designed to create a centerpiece in the bathroom. The optional Lido faucet stand is also available to complete the look.

The Napoli, like the rest of Victoria & Albert's products, is made from Englishcast¢, a blend of volcanic limestone and high-performance resins. This composite, exclusive to Victoria & Albert, produces a tub as strong and rigid as cast iron, but 50% lighter. And because of the new casting technology, Englishcast tubs can be made without rims around the top edge.

"Englishcast is an impervious material that retains water heat and maintains a natural feel and high-gloss finish. It is also easy to clean and is highly durable," says Taylor.

The Napoli tub is supplied with a 25-year warranty from Victoria & Albert.
